Sam Penzenstadler qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after placing third at the Midwest Regional

Sam Penzenstadler was another great in the storied history of outstanding distance runners at Loyola, winning eight individual conference titles from 2011 to 2015. The Oshkosh, Wisconsin native burst onto the scene winning Horizon League Newcomer of the Year his freshman year before winning the cross country title his sophomore campaign. Penzenstadler clocked the fastest mile time in Missouri Valley Conference history and second-fastest in Loyola history at 3:58.05.
 
The 2014 First Team All-American honoree also won consecutive 1500m Drake Relay titles and was a key part of relay teams that established new school records in the indoor distance medley relay and the outdoor 4x800 relay.
