A highly-decorated member of Loyola's men's track & field team from 2009-13, Declan Murray was a five-time Horizon League champion for the Maroon & Gold. Murray established himself as one of the league's best in 2011, capturing outdoor crowns in the 800m run and as a member of the Ramblers' 4x400m relay.Â

After defending his 800m title in 2012, Murray had a senior season to remember, setting new school records in the 600m run and 800m run on his way to being named Horizon League Indoor and Outdoor Athlete of the Year. The Strongsville, Ohio native swept the league's 800m run titles and ran on a pair of conference champion 4x400m relay squads in addition to helping Loyola's distance medley relay to an indoor league title. Murray went on to be named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-American after qualifying for the national final in the 800m run at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships, an effort highlighted by a third-place finish at the indoor national meet.
