Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Ramblers Shoot Past Revs, 77-57

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago blew by George Washington Wednesday night, 77-57, winning its fifth straight game. Jayden Dawson led the Ramblers with 16 points, while Loyola's bench put up 32 on the night.

With the win, the Ramblers improve to 19-9 overall and 10-5 in Atlantic 10 play.

"Tonight was a total team victory," said head coach Drew Valentine. "It's all about our depth and not just one guy. Jalen Quinn really gave us a boost with his energy level, Francis was making a lot of great things happen, Miles had outstanding rim protection tonight, and Kymany had a great start to his second half. Proud of the guys for that win tonight.

"Talking about the cerebral palsy awareness night, our purpose was to create a community. Loyola basketball is a family. Everything has a sense of family and community here, and we wanted to invite another special community that is near and dear to our hearts and let them know they're welcome here. It was a special night in Gentile."

How It Happened
George Washington struck first before the teams traded baskets in the opening five minutes of play Wednesday night. The Ramblers didn't lay on the gas until a steal and fast break layup by Quinn at the 15:05 mark ignited an 8-0 run. Quinn had six of the points during that stretch to go up by eight with 13:44 to play. Francis Nwaokorie and Sheldon Edwards Jr. connected on back to back threes, pushing the lead to double-figures, while Dawson sank one for a 15-point edge with 10:11 on the clock.

Rafael Castro helped GW cut the lead down to six with two straight buckets, but Dawson scored five consecutive points to go back up by 12. Nwaokorie connected on his second three of the half, while Des Watson capped the half with a layup in the paint during the final minute. Loyola led 41-26 after the first.

The Ramblers came out on a tear to open the second, using a 15-4 run to put the lead above 20. Edwards Jr. and Dawson drained two from three on two straight Rambler possessions to go up 55-29 just over six minutes in. GW got within 18 with the next eight unanswered, but it is the closest the Revs would get even with a six-minute scoreless drought by the Ramblers.

Loyola's lead hit 30 with a 9-0 run that saw four points from each Dawson and DeLoach. GW tallied two late threes in the final two minutes and were able to shave 10-points off the lead. Loyola won, 77-57.
