Boxscore

CHICAGO (November 16, 2019)

In Short
Cameron Krutwig matched a career high with 24 points and three other players scored in double figures as Loyola University Chicago (2-2) used a big second half to sprint past Saint Joseph's (2-2), 85-68, this afternoon at Gentile Arena in a nonconference battle of Jesuit rivals. The win snaps the Ramblers' two-game slide and gives them their first-ever victory over the Hawks.

Coach Moser's Thoughts
"I'm proud of how we responded from 72 hours ago. This is a great win for this year's team."

How It Happened
Early on, Saint Joseph's rode the hot hands of Taylor Funk, Cameron Brown and Chereef Knox, who shot a collective 8-for-10 from three-point range in the first half. Funk, who entered the game shooting just 22.2 percent (4-for-18) from beyond the arc, buried all four of his three-point tries in the opening period as the Hawks built an eight-point lead (35-27).

The Ramblers trimmed the deficit, getting within a point on a pair of occasions before a Ryan Daly jumper with three seconds remaining in the period set the Hawks into the locker room ahead 45-42.

Loyola reclaimed the lead for the first time since early in the contest thanks to six straight points courtesy of baskets from Marquise Kennedy, Aher Uguak and Krutwig for a 52-51 advantage with 16:29 remaining in the game. Following a three from Knox that put Saint Joseph's back ahead, the Ramblers reeled off eight unanswered points, with Uguak and Hall combining for all of Loyola's tallies that gave it a 60-54 edge.

Saint Joseph's sliced the deficit down to 62-60 on a Ryan Daly three-pointer with 12:33 left to play, but on its next possession, Loyola got a layup from Lucas Williamson to open up a 16-5 run that featured two of the Ramblers' four threes on the day, courtesy of Marquise Kennedy and Williamson. That flurry pushed the Loyola lead to 78-65 and it never was threatened again on the way to an 85-68 victory.
