Men's Basketball Heads to Saint Louis

Loyola Chicago closes the second to last weekend of regular season action at Saint Louis this Saturday. Tipoff between the Ramblers and Billikens is set for 3 p.m. CT as Loyola looks to make it six straight wins.

Saturday's game can be watched on CBSSN with John Sadak (PXP) and Avery Johnson (Analyst) and can be listened to Rambler Sports Network with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Christian Thomas (Analyst).

RAMBLINGS
• With a win over George Washington earlier this week, the Ramblers improved their win streak to five consecutive games. Loyola has now won 15 games at home this season and 22 of its last 23 in Gentile.
• Jayden Dawson led Loyola with 16 points, while Francis Nwaokorie and Jalen Quinn scored 12 each. Miles Rubin added 10 points. Several Ramblers were on the cusp of double-figures - Sheldon Edwards Jr. (9), Kymany Houinsou (8), and Jalen DeLoach (8).
• Nwaokorie went 4-4 from three-point range and led Loyola with eight rebounds.
• Rubin tallied four blocks, while Edwards Jr. had a team-best six assists.
• Loyola finished with 21 assists on 30 made buckets. It marks the seventh game with at least 20 assists. The Ramblers are undefeated this year when tallying 18 or more assists (11-0).
• Loyola ranks 40th in the country in assists per game (16.2), which also leads the conference. According to KenPom, the Ramblers rank 21st in the country with a 60.6 assist rate.
• Rubin's four blocks moves him up to second on the single-season records list with 66 and counting. Rubin set the single-season record last year with 76. He currently sits fourth in career-blocks with 142. Eight more would move him to third all-time.
• In the country, Rubin ranks 10th in block percentage (11.86) and total blocks (66). His 2.36 blocks per game ranks 15th.
• Edwards Jr. drained three more three-pointers. He now has 82 makes this season, needing just four more to be the program's new record holder.
• The fifth-year guard continues to lead the A-10 in three-point percentage (38.5). He ranks in the NCAA's top-50 in three-pointers per game (2.93), total three-pointers made (82), and three-point attempts (213).
• Head coach Drew Valentine is in his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a 77-48 overall record as head coach.

SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
After playing at Loyola on Feb. 14, the Billikens rebounded with two wins over Rhode Island and Davidson. The Billikens took the Wildcats down to the wire, winning 57-56 earlier this week. Since the start of league play, Saint Louis has the third-best defense, holding opponents to 67.1 points per game. The Billikens have also been shooting the best (46.4) and have the best opponent field goal percentage (39.3).
Robbie Avila leads the Billikens with 17.1 points per game, while Gibson Jimerson adds 17.0 ppg. They rank fourth and fifth in the A-10, respectively. Avila has scored double-figures in all but three games this season, including the last four. Avila scored a season-high 28 points against Illinois State back on Dec. 15. Earlier this season vs. Loyola, Avila had a 19-point, 13 rebound double-double.

Josh Schertz holds a 16-12 record at the helm of SLU. He's compiled a 419-121 record over 17 seasons as a head coach.

Loyola leads the all-time series, 27-24. The Ramblers beat the Billikens 78-69 back on Valentine's Day behind a career-high 26 points from Dawson.
