Loyola Preps for Game No. 17 vs. Rhode Island

CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago returns to Gentile after a split week in Philadelphia. The Ramblers host the Rhode Island Rams for a national TV game Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT as both teams look to climb the Atlantic 10 standings.

Wednesday's game can be watched on CBS Sports Network with Chris Lewis (PXP) and BJ Taylor (Analyst) and can be listened to Rambler Sports Network with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Christian Thomas (Analyst).

RAMBLINGS
• Loyola returns to its home court Wednesday after two on the road in Philadelphia. The Ramblers picked up their first A-10 win at La Salle before falling to Saint Joseph's.
• Against the Explorers, four Ramblers had at least 10 points, including a pair of 20-point outings. Jayden Dawson and Sheldon Edwards Jr. had 20-points each and became the second Loyola duo to record 20 points in the same game this season. Edwards Jr. and Miles Rubin did it in Hawaii against Oakland.
• Dawson finished 6-of-10 from the field with three from deep and 5-of-5 at the line. He added six boards and three assists. Edwards Jr. was 6-of-9 from the field with four threes.
• Both Jalen Quinn and Jalen DeLoach added 13 and 12 points respectively.
• Despite the loss at Saint Joseph's, another four Ramblers scored double-digits. Edwards Jr. led with 12 points, while Des Watson, Dawson and Rubin had 10 each.
• Watson became the second Rambler to surpass 1,000 career points this season with his final bucket at SJU. He has 603 in the Maroon & Gold.
• Edwards Jr. also reached the milestone against VCU. He has 450 as a Rambler.
• This season, Edwards Jr. has hit at least one three-pointer in every game, which includes 10 games with at least three made. He's averaging 2.9 makes per game, ranking fourth in the conference.
• In the NCAA, Edwards Jr. ranks 53rd in total three-pointers made (47), 56th in three-pointers made per game (2.9), and 88th in three-point percentage (38.8).
• As a team, Loyola sits fourth in the A-10, shooting 35.2 percent from three-point range. Also, the Ramblers have only been outscored by an opponent once this season in the paint.
• Head coach Drew Valentine is in his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a 68-45 overall record as head coach.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
The Rams are 13-3 overall and 2-2 in Atlantic 10 play heading into Wednesday's action. Rhode Island opened the year 9-0 before falling to Brown on Dec. 10 for its first loss of the year. In A-10 play, the Rams have wins over George Mason and Richmond and losses to Duquesne and George Washington. URI has the best offense in the league, averaging 79.9 points per game.

Sebastian Thomas averages 18.7 points per game to lead the Rams and rank second in the A-10. He also leads the team and league in assists per game (5.9). Thomas has scored double-figures in every game this season, which includes eight games with at least 20 points. He's on a six game streak with at least 20 points scored and has one double-double in that stretch with a 10 assist outing vs. Temple.

Head coach Archie Miller is in his third season leading the Rams. He holds a 34-45 record with URI.

SERIES HISTORY
The all-time series is tied, 1-1. Loyola won last season's meeting on the road, 77-67. There were a pair of 20-point performances, while Edwards Jr. added 10 from the remaining Ramblers.
