Loyola Returns Home vs. Southern Utah

CHICAGO - It's another battle between a pair of undefeated teams as Loyola Chicago welcomes Southern Utah to Gentile Arena Tuesday night. The Ramblers downed Princeton last Friday, while the Thunderbirds had two wins last week over Bethesda and Omaha.

Tuesday's game can be watched on Marquee Sports Network and ESPN+ with Jordan Bernfield (PXP) and Nick DiNardi (Analyst) and can be listened to Rambler Sports Network with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Christian Thomas (Analyst).

RAMBLINGS
• The Ramblers enter the week at 4-0 after winning their first three games at home and taking a back-and-forth battle at Princeton last Friday. It is the first time since 2021-22 the Ramblers opened the year at 4-0.
Miles Rubin stepped up big with a double-double. He recorded 11 points, a career-high 13 rebounds, and four blocks.
Jayden Dawson led all-scorers with 17 points, while Sheldon Edwards Jr. (13) and Jalen DeLoach (10) finished in double-figures.
• Dawson has a team-leading 14 three-pointers made this season after netting another five at Princeton. It ranks third in the Atlantic 10 and 26th in the country.
• Edwards Jr. is on a three-game double-figure scoring streak, while Dawson has scored at least 13 points in every game this season. Dawson has the lone 20-point performance after opening the year with 20 against Chicago State.
Jalen DeLoach has been productive off the bench for the Ramblers with two double-figure performances this season. He had 10 points in Loyola's win over Princeton, shooting 5-of-7 from the field.
• DeLoach his shooting 70 percent from the field, which is seventh best in the A-10.
• Loyola has the second best offense in the A-10, averaging 86.0 points per game. In the NCAA, Loyola's offense ranks 65th. Dawson ranks 16th individually, averaging 16.5 ppg.
Justin Moore leads the Ramblers with 5.8 assists per game, helping Loyola to a league-best 19.25 assists per game. Loyola ranks 29th in the country in assists per game.
• Head coach Drew Valentine enters his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a 62-39 overall record as head coach.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN UTAH
The Thunderbirds won all four of their games at home to start the season. They beat Western New Mexico, FIU, Bethesda, and Omaha. Southern Utah added 11 new faces over the off-season after going 10-21 last year with a 5-15 finish the WAC.

Five Thunderbirds are averaging over 10 points per game. Jamir Simpson leads SUU with 15.0 ppg on 45 percent from the field. Simpson had a season-best 25 points last week vs. Omaha (8-15 FG, 2-5 3PT, 7-10 FT). He also had 16 point vs. FIU and scored 10 at the line.

Rob Jeter is in his second year leading SUU and has a 14-21 overall record. His career spans 16 seasons and has a 237-236 record.

SERIES HISTORY
Loyola has won the lone meeting between the teams. The Ramblers took a 73-57 decision back on Dec. 19, 2014.
