Loyola Cruises to 30-Point Victory in Exhibition

Four Ramblers score double-figures

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago cruised to an 87-57 win over Calumet St. Joseph in its lone exhibition game Tuesday night. Four Ramblers scored double-figures, including a team-high 16 points from Justin Moore.

Moore was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field with two threes to pace the offense.

The Ramblers will open the 2024-25 season Monday night against Chicago State at 7:30 pm in Gentile Arena.

How It Happened
The Ramblers got off to a hot start Tuesday with a Sheldon Edwards Jr. three-pointer for a 7-3 edge in the first two minutes. Calumet got back within one before Loyola blew the lead open to double-digits. Jayden Dawson connected from deep at the 13:40 mark for an 11-point edge.

The gap grew to 21 with a three sunk by Moore with 7:55 remaining. Moore's three was part of a 14-0 Rambler run that was capped by the junior guard inside on a layup to go up 41-16. Des Watson added from the arc on the final bucket of the half, and Loyola led at the break, 50-28.

Moore stayed hot from deep in the second half, connecting on another to give the Ramblers their largest lead yet at 27. Despite a free throw from Josh Morris at 12:37 to get Calumet back within 19, the Ramblers easily got their lead back to 25 on a dunk from Rubin with 10:35 to play. Dawson and Watson went on a combined 5-0 run for another 27-point lead by the 7:48 mark.
