FORT MYERS, Fla. (November 19, 2018)
In Short
Lucas Williamson scored a career-high 23 points and Loyola University Chicago (4-1) shot 62 percent from the field, including 71 percent in the second half alone, to coast to an 82-66 victory over Richmond (2-2) tonight in a Fort Myers Tip-Off game at Suncoast Credit Union Arena. The win is the Ramblers' third straight.
Coach Moser's Thoughts
"I thought we spaced it so much better in the second half and we also took care of the ball better. Lucas (Williamson) came out and really got us going in the second half."
How It Happened
Loyola scored the first four points of the contest, but Richmond put together a 13-2 run to grab a 13-6 lead that would grow to as many as nine points in the opening period.
Clayton Custer's three-pointer from the corner opened up a 9-0 Rambler run that was punctuated by a Williamson layup to even the score at 24 and Loyola would take the lead at 27-26 on a three from Williamson with 5:41 left in the half.
Richmond was able to slip ahead, putting together a 10-6 spurt the rest of the period to take a 36-33 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
The teams exchanged baskets to open the second half before a Williamson layup sparked an 11-2 Loyola run that put it ahead to stay, at 46-40. The sophomore guard accounted for six of the Ramblers' points during that stretch and the Ramblers would put the game out of reach thanks to a 22-4 run that turned a four-point game into a 74-52 lead.
Loyola, which received some productive minutes off the bench from
Isaiah Bujdoso and
Christian Negron in particular, connected on a sizzling 20-of-28 shots from the field in the second half, scoring the bulk of its points in the paint.
A Look At The Numbers

- Bujdoso had his best night as a Rambler, netting a season-high 11 points off the bench.
