SAVANNAH, Ga. (November 24, 2017)
Â
In Short
Aundre Jackson and
Marques Townes combined for 48 points and Loyola University Chicago (6-0) shot 60 percent (36-for-60) from the field to roll to a 102-78 victory over UNC Wilmington (2-2) this afternoon at the Savannah Civic Center in a Savannah Invitational contest. The Ramblers connected on 55.6 percent (10-for-18) of their attempts from beyond the arc today.
Â
How It Happened
The game was played at a frenetic pace and Jackson provided nearly all of the Ramblers' offense early, accounting for 13 of the team's first 19 points. Loyola broke free just seven minutes into the contest however, using a 16-2 run that featured seven points from
Donte Ingram, to turn a three-point lead into a 35-18 advantage.
Â
That lead would grow to as many as 17 points before the Seahawks rallied to get within eight points and Loyola took a 53-44 edge into the break.
Â
Loyola put the game away right from the outset of the second half, scoring the first 17 points to open up a 70-44 advantage that grew to as many as 34 points (82-48) when Townes hit the second of back-to-back threes.
Â
The only thing left in doubt from there was whether the Ramblers would reach the century mark and
Bruno Skokna's jumper in the lane with 1:33 left gave Loyola 100 points for the first time since November 13, 2016. Every player to dress for today's game saw action for Loyola, with nine players scoring at least one point, including walk-on
Nick DiNardi.

Â
A Look At The Numbers
- Jackson led all scorers with a career-high 25 points, hitting 10 of 13 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. His previous high-scoring output was 24 against San Diego State last December.
- Townes netted a season-high 23 points and added six boards and three assists, while Ingram contributed 14 points and nine rebounds, falling just short of a double-double.
- Clayton Custer added 13 points for the victorious Ramblers, who are 6-0 for just the ninth time since World War II.
- Loyola is now 11-1 in its last 12 contests versus non-Missouri Valley Conference foes.
- Jordon Talley led UNCW with 20 points.
