Chris Huey

Chris Huey arrived at Loyola in June 2023 as the men’s basketball video coordinator.

In 2024-25, Huey helped Loyola to a NIT semifinal run as well as a program record 17 home wins after posting a 25-12 overall finish. The Ramblers claimed third in the A-10, earning a double-bye in the conference tournament. 

The Ramblers saw two all-conference selections in Jayden Dawson (Second Team) and Miles Rubin (All-Defensive). Rubin set the single-season program record in blocks (85) and field goal percentage (.714), while Sheldon Edwards Jr. shattered the single-season three-pointers made record with 106 made.

In 2023-24, Huey played a role in turning the program around with the fourth highest win improvement from the 2022-23 season. Loyola increased its win total by 12 wins, going from 10-21 to 22-10 against Division I opponents. With a 15-3 finish in the A-10, Loyola took home a share of the regular season title and earned a double-bye in the A-10 tournament. The Ramblers carried their success to the NIT.

Huey helped coach Des Watson, Braden Norris, and Miles Rubin to All-Conference honors, while Watson also earned NABC All-District Second Team honors.

Huey came to Chicago after spending the previous seven seasons on the men’s basketball staff at St. John's University. After serving as a graduate assistant for the first two years, Huey was elevated to director of basketball operations prior to the start of the 2018-19 season.

As the director of basketball operations, Huey provided the day-to-day administrative support for the program and assists in organizing on-campus recruiting activities. His responsibilities also include assisting with scheduling, video operations and scouting reports, coordinating travel, managing gameday operations, maintaining the team’s calendar, and serving as the program liaison for athletic administrative areas along with community service.

In his two seasons as a graduate assistant, Huey assisted with video operations, while providing support to the coaching staff in the preparation of statistical analysis and scouting reports.

Huey came to Queens after spending the 2015-16 season at Santa Clara working for head coach Kerry Keating. As the team’s video coordinator, Huey managed the technical operations of capturing and coding practices and games, while also directing the implementation of video analysis into training and scouting activities. He also organized all video exchange and tracked statistical trends as advised by the coaching staff.

Prior to Santa Clara, Huey served as a men’s basketball student manager and video intern at Kansas from 2012-15. The Kansas City native was part of three Big 12 regular-season championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances with the Jayhawks, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2013
.
In his final year at Kansas, Huey practiced with the scout team and became the first manager in the Bill Self Era to suit up for a game. On Feb. 21, 2015 before a capacity crowd at Allen Fieldhouse, Huey played the final 35 seconds of an 81-72 victory over TCU.

A 2014 graduate of Kansas, Huey earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in business. Huey received a master’s degree in sport management from St. John’s in 2018.

Huey and his wife Allison (Griffin) met at the University of Kansas and were married on September 1, 2018.
