Ramblers and Flyers Rematch in Romeoville

LEADING OFF 
No. 10 Loyola Chicago makes a quick trip to No. 16 Lewis on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Flyers' Rae Strong Foundation match. In the current Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) standings, Loyola sits in third and Lewis in fifth.  

QUICK HITS 

  • The Ramblers went 1-1 in last week's matchups, falling 3-1 at then-No. 15 Ohio State (March 26) before sweeping Northern Kentucky (March 28).  
  • Loyola posted a .469 hitting percentage at Northern Kentucky, led by junior outside Daniel Fabikovic 10 kills on .563 hitting. Fabikovic and junior middle Aidan Klein each put up four blocks against the Norses.  
  • Klein paces the league with a .528 average hitting clip, good for second in the country, and ranks third in the MIVA with .98 blocks per set.   
  • Senior libero JJ Sowa averages 2.16 digs per set, placing him second in the conference and 19th in the NCAA. He posted a career-high 14 digs in the win at Hawai'i earlier this season (Jan. 9).  
  • As a unit, the Ramblers rank second in the MIVA in hitting percentage (.326) and third in points (16.01/set), assists (11.94/set), kills (12.75/set) and blocks (2.32/set). Nationally, Loyola is seventh in assists per set and in kills per set, 10th in hitting percentage and 12th in aces per set (1.66).  
  • Head coach Shane Davis marked 300 career wins earlier this season after a sweep against Ball State (March 5).   
  • Men's volleyball celebrates its 30th anniversary this season after Loyola added the program in 1996. The team is home to two of the university's three national championships and has never had a losing season.   

SCOUTING REPORT 
Lewis is currently 14-10 overall and 6-5 in MIVA play. Most recently, the Flyers fell in straight sets to the Buckeyes on the road and went to five sets against the Norses, going home with a 3-2 win. As a team, Lewis ranks first in the league with an opponent hitting percentage of .230, second in blocks (2.52/set) and third in service aces (1.70/set). Senior outside Daniel Haber paces the Flyers' offense with 2.94 kills per set and has the team-high 37 aces. Defensively, redshirt junior Shawn Baggs Jr. Leads Lewis with 81 total blocks, averaging 1.19 per set.  

SERIES HISTORY  
Earlier this season Loyola swept Lewis inside Gentile Arena to extend its series advantage to 38-36. The Ramblers held the Flyers to a .063 hitting clip and outblocked them 21-5. Freshman Oskar Berg Mikkelsen had five blocks and four kills in the win.
