Loyola Chicago Shut Out by Saint Louis

CHICAGO -- Loyola Chicago stumbled in its home-opener as Saint Louis shut out the Ramblers in both games of the doubleheader on Saturday, March 21. Freshman pitching tandem Katie Geydoshek (3-5) and Anna Kiel (5-4) took the losses for Loyola in game one and two, respectively. 

Game One: Saint Louis 6, Loyola Chicago 0
The Ramblers managed zero chances with runners in scoring position, going a total of 0-for-5. Redshirt junior Abbie Gregus was the last Rambler to get on base in bottom of the fifth inning. 

Geydoshek (3-5) got the ball to start and took the loss. Junior Brooke Steinhorst came out of the bullpen and threw two innings, giving up one run on one hit, with one walk and three strikeouts. 

Game Two: Saint Louis 8, Loyola Chicago 0 
The Ramblers tallied six hits in game two but were still unable to notch a run against the Billikens' pitching staff. Juniors Liz Sedakis paced Loyola's offense, going 1-for-3 with a triple, and Nat Lesnicki went 2-for-3 at the dish. Loyola had one chance with runners on third and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. 

Inside the Box Scores

  • Sophomore Alli Pawlowicz led the Ramblers at the plate in game one, going 1-for-4 with her fourth double of the season.
  • Geydoshek struck out three Billikens in the first shutout and junior Maddy Hickey had three Ks in game two.
