Schellinger Named MIVA Offensive POTW

Grad student rakes in team's first conference award in 2026.

CHICAGO – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) named Loyola Chicago's Josh Schellinger as the Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league's office on Tuesday morning.

The Illinois native registered 35.5 points, highlighted by 32 kills, in Loyola's 2-0 weekend against Manhattan (Jan. 30) and then-No. 11 UC San Diego (Jan. 31). He averaged a.472 hitting clip and contributed five blocks, four digs and one service ace in the victories.

Schellinger recorded a season-high 19 kills versus his former team while hitting .387; he also spiked the match-winning kill against the Tritons. Against the Jaspers, the 6-foot-5 outside hitter hit a team-high .591. The conference honor marks the first of his career and the first for Loyola this season.

The Ramblers open MIVA play on the road at the No. 18 Lindenwood Lions on Wednesday, Feb. 4 and at the 13th-ranked McKendree Bearcats on Friday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m.
