Loyola Chicago vs. Fordham Results in 2-2 Draw

Ramblers faced Rams for 3rd time in history and first time as conference foes.

NEW YORK – Under the sun in the Bronx, it was a back-and-forth battle between the Ramblers and the Rams, where Loyola Chicago played a woman down for most of the match and rookie goalkeeper Allison Deardorff had a career goalkeeping day.

"This was one of the most interesting games I've been a part of. We faced a lot of adversity going down a goal early, and playing down for 71 minutes. When our backs were against the wall, the team's resilience and determination were on full display. A lot we can learn from this game but one thing is certain, we will always fight," said head coach Angela Staveskie.

The Ramblers are now 6-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in A-10 play.

How It Happened
An early goal from Fordham's Liina Tervo in the ninth minute opened scoring. Then 10 minutes later, Loyola defender Roos van Roekel drew a red card which forced the Ramblers to play a woman down for the remainder of the match.

The Ramblers took five shots after the card before sophomore forward Zoe Hevey sent a cross into the box where junior middie Grisdale was waiting for her first shot, which was blocked by Fordham's defense. Grisdale rebounded her own shot for the equalizing goal and her first point of the season.   In the second half, Cibulka stole the ball just before midfield, taking it 55-yards before striking the back of the net off her left foot.   With under two minutes remaining, Rams forward Riley Caroll put away the final goal, slipping past Deardorff's mitts, to secure a 2-2 draw. Deardorff notched a season and career high 11 saves and her 10th consecutive match playing the full 90 between the posts.
