CHICAGO – In the Ramblers' last non-conference match of the regular season, senior forward
Taylor Harrison scored at the 31st minute and redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Allison Deardorff recorded another shutout to secure the win over Eastern Michigan.
"We had a really good start to the game and had some really close chances and opportunities. After that, we were a little bit impatient and let them believe and get their feet into the game, but I thought we also did a good job of recognizing that and finding those moments where we needed to fight, we need to have composure. I think well done to our group for withstanding a Sunday grind," said head coach
Angela Staveskie.
Loyola Chicago is now 5-2-1 overall heading into Atlantic 10 play and remain undefeated at home.
"The beginning of this season was the battle of the Big Ten teams and the battle of the MAC schools. What I told the group going into this game is that MAC's tradition is that they work hard, they're blue collar, they're gritty, and they believe and they're going to fight, and that's exactly what they did," said Staveskie.
How It Happened
The Ramblers had five scoring attempts, three on target, before sophomore middie
Ansley Cryan sent a cross inside the box to Harrison who netted the goal, slipping past the reach of Eagles' goalkeeper Ella Holland.
Deardorff had five saves in the first half and the Ramblers set up four corner kicks. Supported by a brick wall back line, Deardorff shut out the Eagles the rest of the game, grabbing two more saves while the offense got seven more shots off, three on goal.
