WASHINGTON D.C. – The Ramblers won their fourth straight game Saturday afternoon.
Dame Adelekun came in clutch in the final minutes converting three three-point plays, helping Loyola Chicago down George Washington, 81-75.
Adelekun finished with 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-3 FT), while
Sheldon Edwards scored a team-high 18 (6-13 FG, 4-10 3PT, 2-2 FT).
Loyola improves to 17-7 overall and 9-2 in league play.
"Players have to make plays," said head coach
Drew Valentine. " Sheldon made shots. Des went up and made free throws. Phil and Dame made plays. Credit to the players and how reslient they've become this season."
How It Happened
Loyola opened the game with back-to-back threes from Edwards and
Des Watson for a quick 6-0 lead in the opening 40 seconds. By the 13:49 mark,
Jalen Quinn and
Braden Norris hit two more consecutive from deep, while another from Edwards with 9:29 on the clock would give Loyola its largest lead yet at 10.
Garrett Johnson and Trey Autry combined for five unanswered points for the Revolutionaries, cutting the lead down to five. The Ramblers responded with a 9-3 run sparked by Norris from outside.
Philip Alston's pair at the line extended the lead back to 10, but George Washington drove in for the final points. Loyola led 37-29 at the break.
The second opened with Loyola and GW trading baskets before the Revolutionaries chipped away to get within one on a three from Maximus Edwards at the 11:57 mark. A little over three minutes later, M. Edwards then captured GW's first lead of the game with a corner three, 53-51. He gave them their largest lead at six with third triple at the 6:42 mark.
The Revolutionaries couldn't shake the Ramblers who rallied with a 8-1 run to regain the lead. Edwards and Norris hit back-to-back threes, while Adelekun converted his first of three three-point plays for a 68-67 lead. Bishop broke up the stretch with a three-pointer, but Loyola scored nine more unanswered points.
Adelekun came in clutch with another two and-ones in the final two minutes. Watson and Edwards also converted at the line late, and Loyola rallied for an 81-73 win.

- Joining Edwards and Adelekun in double-figures was Watson (14 points) and Alston (10 points).
- Alston was just short of a double-double, grabbing a game-high eight rebounds. He tallied two blocks.
