Ramblers Erupt in 4-0 Shutout Against George Washington

Bierker's game-winner came in the fourth minute

CHICAGO – The Ramblers erupted for four goals Sunday surging to a 4-0 shutout over George Washington. Skyler Bierker netted the game-winner in the fourth minute helping Loyola Chicago to its first Atlantic 10 victory of the season.

The Ramblers improved to 5-5-2 overall, 1-1-2 in the A10.

"Skye's early goal off the corner kick really took the weight off our shoulders," said head coach Barry Bimbi. "It let the girls relax a little bit. We've been playing some really good soccer, but the ball just hasn't been going in the net. To score that early one, you could just see everyone took a deep breath and relaxed."

How It Happened
Sunday's result was the culmination of the offensive dominance the Ramblers have shown all month. Bierker helped break the ice with the match's game-winner at the 3:22 mark. An early corner kick awarded to Loyola allowed Madeleine Barone to send the ball to Bierker who used a high header to go up 1-0.

The Ramblers would tally two more by halftime. Jaimee Cibulka dribbled to the top right of the box passing to Zoe Hevey on the left. Hevey cut back towards the middle and sent a high ball doubling the Rambler lead in the 31st minute.

Hevey then connected with Taylor Harrison on a cross in the 35th minute. Harrison used her signature one-foot tap and made it a 3-0 lead at the break.

As the second half geared up, two more Ramblers put shots on target before Harrison struck again. Harrison was able to knock down a GW pass at the top of the box with a little pressure. She challenged the keeper one-on-one and beat her low left making it 4-0 in the 62nd minute.

George Washington tallied two shots on goal following Loyola's final goal of the match. Naya Lipkens made two easy saves to hold on to the shutout. Ramblers win, 4-0.
