AMHERST, Mass. – The Ramblers fell on the road Sunday to the UMass Minutewomen, 4-1.
Olivia Knab scored her first goal of the season in the loss.
With the loss, Loyola Chicago sits at 5-6-2 overall, 1-2-2 in A10 play.
"Some days you get your butt kicked and today was that kind of day," said head coach
Barry Bimbi. "UMass was sharp and fluid as a team, and we never found the correct gear to compete with them today. We'll regroup and work hard this week heading into Davidson next Sunday."
How It Happened
Through the start of the match, the Ramblers were leading the offensive charge holding a 5-0 edge in shots on goal, but it was the Minutewomen who managed to find the back of the net first.
In the 29
th minute, Bella Recinos played the ball to Ashley Lamond who put one past Loyola's goalkeeper. Three minutes later,
Zoe Hevey attempted to even the score, but UMass held a 1-0 lead at the half.
Recinos added another two points to the box score two minutes out of the break. She doubled the UMass lead in the 47
th minute off an assist from Emma Pedolzky. Pedolzky then turned around and scored a goal in the 53
rd minute from another Recinos helper.
Knab helped the Ramblers avoid the shutout in the 65
th minute with her first goal of the 2023 season. She scored high right cutting the lead, 3-1.
The Minutewomen would tally one more goal before time expired to hold on to an undefeated home record. UMass wins, 4-1.
Inside the Box Score
