Loyola Welcomes Saint Louis to Town on Wednesday

Tip-off on CBS Sports Network is set for 6 p.m.

CHICAGO (January 16, 2023) – Loyola University Chicago will look to collect its first conference win of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 18 when the Ramblers take on Saint Louis at home. Tip-off inside Gentile Arena is set for 6:00 p.m. Rich Waltz and Avery Johnson will have the call of the game on CBS Sports Network. Saturday's game will also be broadcast on the Rambler Sports Network with Jeff Hagedorn and Christian Thomas broadcasting the action live.
 
Last Time Out
Philip Alston reached 1,000 career points and recorded his second double-double of the season as the Ramblers dropped an 86-55 road decision at Saint Joseph's. Alston became the second Loyola men's basketball player to reach 1,000 points in a career this season (Braden Norris), scoring a team-high 16 points while bringing in a game-high 11 rebounds. Alston also matched a season-high with three blocked shots in the game against Saint Joseph's, falling one shy of matching his career high.
 
Loyola/Saint Louis – The Series
Wednesday will be the 47th meeting all-time between the Ramblers and Billikens, with Loyola owning a slim 24-22 margin in the series history. It has been over 10 years, however, since the two teams last met, with Saint Louis securing a 60-43 victory in St. Louis on Dec. 19, 2007. Justin Cerasoli came off the bench to score a team-high 12 points while Leon Young scored nine. Saint Louis has won the last four meetings, with the Ramblers' last win over the Billikens coming on Jan. 24, 1991 in a 102-71 blowout victory.
 
Scouting Saint Louis
Four Billikens average in double figures this year, led by Gibson Jimerson's 12.9 points. Yuri Collins (12.0), Javon Pickett (12.0) and Javonte Perkins (10.8) have helped pace Saint Louis to a 12-6 record and a 4-1 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Billikens are currently tied atop the A-10 standings. Francis Okoro controls the paint to the tune of 8.2 rebounds per game, the second-best rebounding average in the A-10. The Billikins are riding a three-game winning streak entering Wednesday, having defeated St. Bonaventure and George Mason at home before taking down George Washington on the road last time out. Travis Ford is in his seventh season at the helm of the Saint Louis program, owning a career record of 124-83 with the Billikens and 460-349 over 26 years of head coaching experience.
