Ramblers Stay Hot, Cruise Past Dartmouth, 73-37

Chandler pours in 20 points to lead Loyola

HANOVER, N.H. (December 3, 2021)

In Short…
Loyola University Chicago picked up its fourth win in as many games in dominant fashion, rolling to a 73-37 victory over Dartmouth (0-6) this evening inside Leede Arena in Hanover, N.H.  Tonight's win, Loyola's first on the road this season, moves the Ramblers to 5-2 overall.

How It Happened
An old-fashioned three-point play from Maya Chandler snapped a slow start for Loyola on the offensive end, pulling the Ramblers within one, 4-3, with 7:38 to play in the first quarter.  Two Allison Day free throws on the Maroon & Gold's next trip down the floor gave Loyola its first lead of the night, 5-4.  Chandler stayed hot as the frame wore on, knocking down a mid-range jumper to up the lead to 15-9 at the 3:54 mark.  Sam Galanopoulos added a triple on the Ramblers' final possession of the quarter as Loyola held a 20-12 edge after the opening 10 minutes.

Galanopoulos went right back to work in the second quarter, finishing inside just over a minute in to stretch the lead to 22-12.  With the margin sitting at 32-21 following a Grace Niekelski triple, Sitori Tanin sparked a half-ending 9-0 that included five straight points from Chandler, sending the Ramblers into halftime with a 41-21 advantage.

Dartmouth refused to go away without a fight, using a 7-0 surge capped off by an Isabella DiGiovanni layup that trimmed the Loyola lead to 45-32 and prompted a Rambler timeout just before the midway point of the third quarter.  The Maroon & Gold answered back after the stoppage, with a Jala Johnson baseline drive and another Galanopoulos trey pushing the margin to 50-32 with 2:26 to play.

The Big Green got no closer than 16 the rest of the night, as Loyola held Dartmouth to just three points during the fourth quarter en route to a convincing win to begin its road trip.
