CHICAGO (November 18, 2019)Â - Fresh off a convincing 85-68 victory over Saint Joseph's Saturday, Loyola looks to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season when it closes out a three-game homestand by hosting IUPUI Wednesday night. In three contests at Gentile Arena this season, the Ramblers are lighting up the scoreboard for 79.7 points per game and knocking down 52 percent (93-for-179) of their field goal attempts.Â
In its two wins this season, Loyola is averaging 83.5 ppg and converting 56 percent (70-for-125) of its field goal attempts. However, in its losses, those numbers dip to respectable marks of 67.5 ppg and 47.7 percent (52-for-109) from the field.
In Loyola's three home games this year, junior center Cameron Krutwig is putting up impressive numbers, averaging 19.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 8.0 apg, 1.0 spg and shooting 65.7 percent (23-for-35) from the field. He is the only MVC player this year to be averaging 16.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 7.0 apg has totaled 10 or more points in 18 straight games at Gentile Arena.
Loyola – IUPUI – The Series
Wednesday's game will be just the second meeting between the Ramblers and Jaguars. Loyola won the only previous matchup, rallying from a six-point halftime deficit to pick up a 77-73 victory, behind 23 points from Majak Kou on November 12, 2006, at the BCA Classic in Columbus, Ohio.
Since it departed the conference prior to the 2013-14 season, Loyola is 10-2 against current members of the Horizon League.
Scouting IUPUI
Following a pair of lopsided road losses to open the season, IUPUI has posed back-to-back wins, knocking off Anderson (72-55) and South Florida (70-53). The Jaguars, who have been idle since November 13, will be playing their third road contest of the young season and are 1-2 away from home.
Junior guard Marcus Burk, a transfer from Campbell, is averaging a team-high 20.8 ppg and adds 4.8 rpg, 1.5 apg and 2.0 spg, and over the last two outings, he is filling it up for 25.5 ppg, shooting 60.6 percent (20-for-33) from the field and 57.1 percent (8-for-14) from three-point land.
