Ramblers and Eagles are meeting for the first time since 1993

CHICAGO (November 10, 2019) - Loyola opens a three-game homestand Tuesday night when it hosts Coppin State. The Ramblers are looking to bounce back from their first setback of the season, an 87-63 decision at Furman Friday night. In their last seven home games, the Ramblers are shooting 56 percent (195-for-348) from the field.

Since the start of the 2012-13 campaign, Loyola has opened a season with a 2-1 record or better through its first three games six times in seven years. A year ago, the Ramblers rebounded from a loss to Furman in the season's second outing to notch a 75-62 victory over Niagara at Gentile Arena.

Dating back to last season, Loyola is averaging 79.0 ppg and shooting 60.9 percent (92-for-151) from the field and 41.2 percent (21-for-51) from beyond the arc in its last three nonconference games at Gentile Arena.

Scouting Coppin State

Coppin State, which is coached by former Maryland standout Juan Dixon, is playing the second of five consecutive road games.

After suffering a close loss to Rider (91-84) in the 2019-20 season opener, the Eagles were dealt a 74-42 defeat at Virginia Tech November 8. Fifty-four percent (78-for-145) of the Eagles' shots this season have come from behind the three-point line, but CSU is converting only 20.5 percent (16-for-78) of those tries. Redshirt senior guard Kamar McKnight leads the team with 15.0 ppg.
