Loyola to face Richmond Monday night at the Fort Myers Tip-Off

Game Notes | Live Video vs. Richmond

CHICAGO (November 17, 2018) -
Loyola, which has prevailed in 24 of its last 27 contests dating back to last season, hits the road for the first time in 2018-19 when it heads to Florida to take on Richmond in the Fort Myers Tip-Off Monday night. The Ramblers have won 11 of their last 13 contests played at neutral sites and went 9-1 last season with the lone setback coming at the hands of Michigan at the Final Four. The Ramblers are looking to start a season with a 4-1 record or better for the fifth straight campaign. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, the Ramblers are 8-1 (.889) in multi-team events (MTE's), with the lone loss coming at the hands of Saint Joseph's at the Paradise Jam in 2016.

Loyola – Richmond – The Series

Loyola and Richmond are meeting for the first time. The Ramblers have compiled a 52-78 (.400) record all-time against current members of the Atlantic 10 Conference, most recently falling to Saint Joseph's (71-57) at the Paradise Jam in 2016. At some point in its history, Loyola has been conference mates with current A-10 foes Dayton, Duquesne, La Salle and Saint Louis.

Scouting Richmond

Richmond has rebounded from a season-opening loss to Longwood to notch back-to-back victories over Saint Francis (N.Y.) and IUPUI, which is coached by a former Porter Moser assistant at Loyola - Jason Gardner. The big three of Jacob Gilyard (20.3 ppg), Nick Sherod (18.3 ppg) and Grant Golden (17.3 ppg) accounts for 75 percent of the Spiders' scoring output this season and that trio is shooting a collective 54.2 percent from the field (64-for-118). Last season, Richmond, which is also playing away from home for the first time in 2018-19, dropped four of its final six contests at road or neutral sites.
