Loyola Closes Out Homestand By Hosting Grambling State Friday Night

Ramblers have started a season 3-1 or better four straight years

CHICAGO (November 15, 2018) - 
Loyola closes out a season-opening, four-game homestand Friday night when it welcomes Grambling State to Gentile Arena. The Ramblers, who have won 17 of their last 18 nonconference home games, are looking to start a season 3-1 or better for the fifth straight year. Dating back to last season, Loyola has won 23 of its last 26 contests.
 
Loyola – Grambling State – The Series
Loyola and Grambling State are meeting for the first time in series history. The Ramblers have compiled a 6-0 record all-time against current members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, defeating Mississippi Valley State (63-50) in 2017-18 and Alcorn State (69-44) in 2016-17. As a head coach, Porter Moser is 2-0 all-time against Grambling State.
 
Scouting Grambling State
Grambling opened the season with a 105-68 victory over Jarvis Christian before coming up on the short end of an 86-78 decision at Wyoming Wednesday evening. Through two games, Grambling is shooting 54.3 percent (70-for-129) from the field and averaging 91.5 points per game.
 
Last season, the Tigers won 13 of their final 15 games to finish with a 17-14 overall mark and a 13-5 ledger in SWAC play.
 
Junior swingman Dallas Polk-Hilliard, a Milwaukee native, paces the Grambling offense with 15.5 points per game and adds 7.5 boards per contest.
