CHICAGO (November 13, 2018) -
Loyola looks to rebound from its first home loss in nonconference action since December 16, 2015, when it hosts Niagara in an on-campus game as part of the Fort Myers Tip-Off. The Ramblers, who have captured 16 of their last 17 home non-league games, are looking to avoid their first 1-2 start to a season since 2013-14. Over the last two seasons, the Ramblers are 6-1 (.857) in multi-team events (MTE's), going 4-0 at the Savannah Invitational last year and 2-1 at the Paradise Jam in 2016-17, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Saint Joseph's.

Loyola – Niagara – The Series

Wednesday's match-up is just the second meeting between Loyola and Niagara and the first since February 24, 1937, when the Ramblers pulled out a 48-42 victory. This is the Purple Eagles' first trip to Rogers Park.

Loyola is 17-7 all-time versus current members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Scouting Niagara

Niagara kicked off the 2018-19 season Monday night with an 80-72 victory over Saint Bonaventure behind 20 points and 10 boards from Marvin Prochet. A year ago, the Purple Eagles posted a 19-14 overall mark, going 12-6 over the final 18 contests, although they dropped four of their final five outings of the season.

Head coach Chris Casey will need to replace his top two scorers from a high-scoring outfit that averaged 83.3 points per game in 2017-18 - Kahlil Dukes (21.0 ppg) and Matt Scott (19.1 ppg) - but returns senior forward Marvin Prochet, who put up 10.3 ppg and 7.9 rpg last season.

Up Next

Loyola continues a busy stretch that will ultimately see it play four games in eight days when it hosts Grambling State Friday at 7 p.m.
