In Short…

Eight different Ramblers found the back of the net as the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team cruised past Chicago State, 9-0, this evening at Loyola Soccer Park.  With the win, Loyola's third straight, the Ramblers improve to 6-3-0 (1-0-0 MVC), while the Cougars drop to 1-8-0 (0-0-0 WAC).

How It Happened
Sophomore Aleksa Tataryn nearly put the Ramblers on top inside three minutes when her looping blast from outside the box clipped the far post.  It would prove to be only a matter of time as junior Jenna Szczesny put the Maroon & Gold on the board in the sixth minute, firing home following a deflection off Chicago State goalkeeper Audra Wisehart to make it 1-0.  Junior Madison Kimball doubled the advantage, 2-0, less than six minutes later as she sent her free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box in at the near post.

Loyola continued to move forward as senior Katie Grall and Tataryn, each scored, respectively, within a span of 2:10 to up the Rambler lead to 4-0.  Senior Avalon Senn-Raemont and freshman Kat Stephens added goals of their own before the end of the opening 45 minutes as the Maroon & Gold raced into the locker room with a commanding 6-0 lead.

Just over 15 minutes into the second stanza, sophomore Sienna Cruz struck for a pair of goals inside of a two-minute stretch, pushing the margin up to 8-0 with half an hour still to play.  Senior goalkeeper Maddie Ford was called into action twice as time wound down as she made a pair of stops on attempts by Taylor Rankin.  Following a point-blank stop by Wisehart on freshman Alyson Kobler's shot in the 77th minute, senior Carolina Dunbar added the night's final tally when she cleaned up the ensuing rebound to put the exclamation point on a 9-0 victory.

Looking At The Numbers
- Szczesny netted her team and MVC-best sixth goal of the season to open the scoring on the night for the Ramblers.
- Loyola closed the night with an impressive 31-6 advantage in shots and put 20 attempts on target.
- Ford was credited with a pair of saves as she recorded her second clean sheet in as many games.  Tonight's shutout was the 14th of Ford's career, a total which moves her into sole possession of fifth place on the program's all-time leaderboard in the category.
- As noted above, tonight was Loyola's third straight win and fourth victory in its last five games.
- The Ramblers' nine-goal outburst this evening marks the program's most in a single-game since a 10-0 drubbing of Western Illinois back on Sept. 26, 1997.
