Loyola Looks To Stay Perfect At Home, Hosts MVSU Tuesday

Ramblers have won five straight home games dating back to last season

CHICAGO (November 20, 2017) -
Loyola looks for its sixth straight victory at Gentile Arena dating back to last season when it welcomes Mississippi Valley State to Rogers Park Tuesday evening. Following Tuesday's game, the Ramblers will play six of their next eight contests away from home. At 4-0, Loyola is off to its best start since going 7-0 to open the 2010-11 campaign. Loyola has started a season 5-0 a total of 12 times since World War II. Loyola is an impressive 29-3 (.906) in home non-conference games since the start of the 2013-14 campaign and has won 12 straight versus non-league foes at Gentile Arena.
 
Series Stuff
This is the first-ever meeting between Loyola and Mississippi Valley State. Loyola is 5-0 all-time against current members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, with three of those wins coming against Alcorn State. The Ramblers are playing a SWAC foe for the first time since the 2016-17 opener, when they knocked off Alcorn State, 69-44, behind 21 points from Milton Doyle.
 
Scouting Mississippi Valley State
Mississippi Valley State has played its first four games of the season on the road, including three contests in Utah versus BYU, Utah and Utah State. The Delta Devils average just 56.5 points per game and are shooting only 36 percent from the field, 31 percent from long distance, and 60.7 percent from the charity stripe this season. Meanwhile, opponents are putting up 86.3 points per game on MVSU, and connecting on 51.5 percent of their attempts from the field. Dating back to last year, the Bulldogs have lost seven straight true road games since a 68-66 victory at Alabama A&M on February 4. Junior guard Tereke Eckwood is the lone Delta Devil scoring in double figures, averaging 10.0 ppg and shooting 54.5 percent (6-for-11) from beyond the arc.
