CHICAGO (November 18, 2017) - After picking up its first road win of the season, Loyola returns home to face Samford, a team that reached the postseason in 2016-17. The Ramblers are looking to start a season with four straight wins for the first time since going 7-0 to open the 2010-11 campaign. Loyola has started a season 4-0 a total of 16 times since World War II. Loyola is an impressive 28-3 (.903) in home non-conference games since the start of the 2013-14 campaign and has won 11 straight versus non-league foes at Gentile Arena.

LOYOLAÂ - SAMFORD - THE SERIES
This is the first-ever meeting between Loyola and Samford. Loyola is 1-2 all-time against current members of the Southern Conference, going 1-1 against Furman and 0-1 in its only meeting with Mercer The Ramblers are playing a SoCon foe for the first time since December 1, 2012, when they disposed of Furman, 77-50, in Chicago.

SCOUTING SAMFORD
Samford has played a pair of Southeastern Conference foes already this season, falling at Arkansas and LSU, while knocking off Alabama A&M. A year ago, the Bulldogs went 20-16 overall and reached the second round of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). So far this season, opponents have shot at a 53.6 percent (96-for-179) clip against Samford, while putting up 89.3 points per game. Dating back to last year, the Bulldogs have lost seven straight true road games since a 69-67 victory at VMI on January 28. Senior guard Demetrius Denzel-Dyson leads Samford with 12.3 ppg and is adding 4.0 rpg. AÂ season ago, he contributed a team-best 16.1 ppg and shot 46 percent from three-point range.
