In Short…
Maddie Orf's goal in the 63rd minute proved to be the difference as Indiana State dealt the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team a 1-0 defeat this afternoon at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute, Ind. With the win, the Sycamores improve to 7-10-1 on the year (2-3-1 MVC), while the Ramblers drop to 4-10-2 (2-3-0 MVC).

How It Happened
Both teams had chances in the early minutes on a mild afternoon in Terre Haute. Sydney Hamker forced a leaping save out of junior goalkeeper Maddie Ford six minutes in before senior Shelby Koch saw her blast from 25 yards out denied by Brianna Riscossa, the Sycamore netminder. In the 14th minute, Ford gave way to sophomore Cassidy Lentz after being forced to leave the game following a diving save on Katie Wells' breakaway attempt.

With time winding down in the first half, sophomore Jenna Szczesny took off on a run through the midfield in the 35th minute. The Hoffman Estates, Ill. product unleashed a left-footed try that sailed just wide of the near post. Lentz notched her first save of the day just three minutes before halftime when she dove to the ground to deny Orf as the two teams headed to the intermission knotted up at 0-0.

Loyola immediately looked to push Indiana State back into its own third to begin the second half. Szczesny came close to putting the Maroon & Gold on top in the 51st minute, only to see her back heel flick denied at the near post by Riscossa. The sophomore was in the mix again 10 minutes later as she sent a pass into the box that senior Avalon Senn-Raemont sent just over the crossbar.

Indiana State found its breakthrough from the combination of Wells and Orf in the 63rd minute. Wells sent a cross from the left side that connected with an unmarked Orf, who headed in to put the hosts in front, 1-0. Indiana State limited Loyola's chances as the half wound down. Senn-Raemont pushed a one-timer over the crossbar in the 84th minute. Junior Katie Grall had one final chance for the Ramblers in the 87th minute but hooked her attempt wide as Indiana State closed out a 1-0 victory.

Looking At The Numbers
- Loyola finished the afternoon with a 14-11 advantage in shots and put four of its attempts on target.
- Szczesny led the attack for the Ramblers in the offensive third with a game-high five shots.
- After being forced into action in the 14th minute following the exit of Ford, Lentz performed well in goal as she chipped in three saves in just over 76 minutes of action.
