CHICAGO - Senior goalkeeper Emily Peick held IPFW (2-4-0) scoreless this evening at Loyola Soccer Park to become Loyola University Chicago's (4-3-1) all-time leader with 15.5 shutouts. The Ramblers, who posted their first victory in two weeks, knocked off the Mastodons, 2-0, to improve to 2-0-1 at home this fall.

Loyola jumped on the board first at the 27:54 mark, thanks to Mary Dale's breakaway goal off a fine touch by freshman Cynthia Morote-Ariza. The deeper Rambler squad was able to wear down IPFW in the second half as it dominated the contest, owning a 10-2 advantage in shots. Morote-Ariza helped Loyola breathe easier in the waning minutes as she fed Jackie Vera, who found the back of the net from right in front of the keeper, for her first collegiate goal.

With the pair of assists, Morote-Ariza ran her season point total to 13, which is within striking distance of the Loyola all-time single-season record (22) and the single-season record for a freshman (19). Dale also moved into sole possession of second place on the Loyola career goals chart, as her first-half tally was the 20th of her illustrious career.

Peick was steady yet again, recording four saves, en route to her fourth win of the year.

The Ramblers are back in action Sunday, Sept. 17 when they travel to Lincoln Park to face city rival DePaul at 4 p.m.
