Brendan Roth enters his second season as an assistant coach after joining the team in April 2023. Roth came to Loyola following a two year-stint at Notre Dame. Roth brings with him over 10 years of combined coaching and playing experience
In his first season as an assistant, Roth helped the Ramblers to a 7-7-4 overall record an 3-3-4 finish in Atlantic 10 play. He helped in coaching the 2023 A-10 Rookie of the Year, Zoe Hevey, along with two other second team selections.
With the Fighting Irish, Roth began serving as the director of operations in January 2022 after assisting as a volunteer coach for the 2021-22 season. Roth helped Notre Dame to a third and fourth place finish in the ACC, a NCAA Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen appearance, three All-American Selections, ACC Defensive and Midfield Payer of the Year, and a MAC Hermann Finalist selection during his tenure.
He was responsible for organizing and running training sessions, assisted with scouting reports and game breakdown analysis, and managed travel, budget, compliance, and camps.
Prior to his stint with the Irish, Roth was with Valparaiso from 2017-21. Most recently, Roth served as a women's soccer volunteer assistant coach. He helped the program reach the MVC championship match in 2020-21 for the first time in program history. The team also notched their highest regular season finish in program history that same year.
Before assisting the women's program, Roth was on the men's soccer staff as an assistant coach, which was his second stint with the men's program. His guidance from 2017-19 helped produce 10 All-MVC selections, two Academic All-District, two, Academic All-MVC, and one Academic All-American. His start with Valpo came in 2012 as an assistant coach through the 2016 season.
In between his time with Valparaiso, Roth was the head men's soccer coach at Calumet College of St. Joseph. While there, Roth recruited over 30 players, some seeing professional opportunities and all-conference accolades.
Roth played collegiately at Valpo and was a five-year member of the team from 2007-11. Roth played in over 60 career matches. He finished his career with four goals and two assists. In 2011, Roth spent the summer playing for the Carolina Redhawks U 23 squad, which won the USASA U23 National Cup Championship as well as the USASA Region III U23 Men's Cup.
The Elkhart, Indiana native earned his bachelor's of science in marketing and sports management from Valparaiso in 2011. He later got his master's in kinesiology/sports administration in 2014.
