Gabriella Gaudreault was added as an assistant coach for Loyola Chicago's cross country and track & field programs in July 2024 by director of the programs Coach
Gavin Kennedy. Gaudreault will work directly with the Rambler's middle distance and distance student-athletes.
During the 2024 cross country season, Loyola’s women’s team secured its third consecutive Atlantic 10 championship, with four runners placing in the top seven. The men’s team finished as runner-up, bolstered by two top-seven finishes. At the NCAA Midwest Regional, James Lawrence and Grace Kuhn earned All-Region honors — Lawrence placed 14th in the men’s 10K, guiding the Ramblers to fifth, while Kuhn was 23rd in the women’s 6K, helping Loyola place ninth. Academically, the men’s team posted a 3.43 GPA for the fall semester, and the women led with a 3.69.
At the 2025 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, Lawrence was named Most Outstanding Track Performer after sweeping the 3,000m and 5,000m titles — his 8:03.53 in the 3K set a new conference record. He later broke Loyola’s 3K school record with a 7:52.32. Emma Watcke set two program records of her own: 4:39.66 in the mile and 9:14.85 in the 3K. Lawrence and teammate Gabe Smit earned A-10 Indoor All-Academic Team honors.
In outdoors, Lawrence, Watcke, and Roisin Treacy captured Atlantic 10 titles in the 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase, respectively, while three others reached the podium. Lawrence, Smit, Watcke, and Treacy advanced to the NCAA West Prelims. Lawrence also clocked the nation’s 13th-fastest 10K time (27:54.62) at Stanford, breaking the school record by 45 seconds.
At season’s end, Lawrence, Smit, Watcke, and Treacy were named CSC Academic All-District honorees. Both teams again earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, while Lawrence, Watcke, and Treacy were also honored individually. GPAs remained strong in the spring, with the men’s team at 3.44 and the women’s at 3.67.
Capping off the year, Jason Clayton broke the outdoor 3K school record with a 7:53.12 at the Cork City Sports meet in Ireland. Over the course of the year, Loyola athletes set eight school records and garnered eight Atlantic 10 Track Performer of the Week awards.
Gaudreault joined the Ramblers from the University of Georgia, where she spent one year as the assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams. During her time in Athens, the Bulldogs saw success in all facets. The women earned a third place team finish at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, and placed 10
th at the outdoor NCAA championship. On the men's side, the Bulldogs placed ninth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In cross country, The men's team compiled 318 points at the NCAA South Regionals to finish 13th as a team, with the women's team finishing 17
th overall.
Individually, Gaudreault assisted Charlotte Augenstein to a personal best of 4:17.48 in the 1500m at the NCAA East Preliminary Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Augenstein had success in the mile as well, placing seventh at the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a personal best of 4:42.75. Her time marked the seventh-fastest time in UGA history. On the men's side, Gaudreault helped lead Wesley John to a personal best time of 8:53.52 in the 3,000m steeplechase, qualifying him for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds and stands as the third-fastest time in the record books at Georgia. In addition to John, Chase Condra led the Bulldogs during the championship season in cross country, clocking a time of 24:24.1 for 8k at the SEC Cross Country Championships. He followed by taking 30
th overall at the NCAA South Regional Championships 10k in 29:49.4.
Before Georgia, Gaudreault worked as a volunteer distance coach at Vanderbilt. She assisted Niki Narayani (10,000m) and Caroline Eck (5000m) to the NCAA East Prelims and helped Narayani score in the 3000m (9:25) and 5000m (16:17) at the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. In the fall, Narayani earned All-Region honors with a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championships.
Prior to Vanderbilt, Gaudreault coached at Towson University from 2020-2022. She had the opportunity to serve as the interim head coach towards the end of her tenure and led the Tigers to great levels of success. Under Gaudreault's leadership, Crystal Johnson was named the ECAC Championships Most Outstanding Performer. The Tigers had three conference champions in the women's 100m, pole vault, and javelin. Gaudreault also helped Cristal Cuervo compete internationally, representing Panama at the 2022 Bolivarian Games with a sixth-place finish in the 400m.
Towson placed third at the CAA Outdoor Championships, following its runner-up finish in 2021, with Hayley Horvath earning CAA Co-Field Athlete of the Year. Horvath (pole vault), Johnson (100m, 200m), Fatimah Owens (discus), and Georgia Coleman (hammer) won conference titles, with Johnson (200m) and Thorpe (javelin) setting new school records. During the indoor season, the Tigers finished fourth at the ECAC Indoor Championships, with Johnson winning the 60m title and setting a school record in the 200m. On the distance side, Gaudreault led Ainsley Jacobs to a school record in 3000m and a personal best in the 5000m. Jacobs also earned All-CAA honors during the cross country season.
Prior to Towson, Gaudreault served as an assistant coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe for a short stint in August 2019. She worked with both men's and women's Warhawks distance programs.
Before working with the Warhawks, Gaudreault served as an assistant coach for men's and women's distance at Campbell University in 2018-2019. Gaudreault helped lead Amon Keboi and Lawrence Kipkoech to All-American status at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Additionally, Kemboi earned All-American honors in the 3000m and 5000m at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Campbell men earned the 2018 Big South Cross Country Championships title and finished second at both the indoor and outdoor league championships. Meanwhile, the Campbell women placed second at the Big South Cross Country Championships.
For the Lady Camels, Gaudreault guided Roshae Jackson to first place at the 2019 Big South indoor 800m and helped her secure a runner-up finish in the mile. Jackson, who made the Big South 2010-19 All-Decade Distance Team, is ranked No. 3 on the league's all-time performance list.
A native of Leominster, Mass., Gaudreault was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American in the 800m and a three-year cross country student-athlete at Springfield College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in applied exercise science in 2014. She pursued an MS in food, nutrition, and culinary science at Clemson University in 2016, and was the graduate assistant coach for the Tigers cross country and track & field teams.
