Gabby Gaudreault

Gabriella Gaudreault was added as an assistant coach for Loyola Chicago’s cross country and track programs in July 2024 by director of programs Gavin Kennedy. Gaudreault works directly with the Ramblers’ middle-distance and distance student-athletes.

During the 2025 cross country season, Gaudreault helped lead Loyola to another historic campaign. The Ramblers swept the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships, capturing both the men’s and women’s team titles for the third time in four years. The men’s team also earned the program’s first appearance in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Coaches’ Poll, reaching No. 30. Earlier in the season, Loyola defeated two nationally ranked programs on its way to a runner-up finish at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational. At the NCAA Midwest Regional, the men placed fifth and the women finished 11th.

Following the cross country season, James Lawrence was selected to represent the Ivy League alumni team at the Izumo Ekiden in Japan.

At the 2026 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, Loyola earned seven medals — four silver and three bronze. The Ramblers continued their success during the outdoor season, earning seven additional medals at the A-10 Outdoor Championships, highlighted by gold-medal performances from Nate Boutin in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Eileen Seebon in the 10,000-meter run. Boutin and Roisin Treacy also reset program records. Boutin set the men’s steeplechase record with a time of 8:45.43 at the Raleigh Relays, while Treacy broke the women’s record with a 10:08.67 finish at the A-10 Championships.

The 2026 outdoor season concluded with three Ramblers qualifying for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Round. Treacy, Boutin and Rodolfo Sanchez each qualified.

During the 2024 cross country season, Loyola’s women’s team won its third consecutive Atlantic 10 title, with four runners placing in the top seven. The men’s team finished runner-up with two top-seven finishes. At the NCAA Midwest Regional, James Lawrence and Grace Kuhn earned all-region honors. Lawrence placed 14th in the men’s 10K to lead the Ramblers to a fifth-place finish, while Kuhn finished 23rd in the women’s 6K, helping Loyola place ninth. The men’s team posted a 3.43 GPA for the fall semester, while the women led with a 3.69.

At the 2025 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, Lawrence was named Most Outstanding Track Performer after winning both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. His time of 8:03.53 in the 3K set a conference record. He later broke Loyola’s 3K school record with a 7:52.32. Emma Watcke set program records in the mile (4:39.66) and 3K (9:14.85). Lawrence and Gabe Smit were named to the A-10 Indoor All-Academic Team.

During the outdoor season, Lawrence, Watcke and Treacy won A-10 titles in the 5,000 and 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively, while three others reached the podium. Lawrence, Smit, Watcke and Treacy advanced to the NCAA West Prelims. Lawrence also recorded the nation’s 13th-fastest 10K time (27:54.62) at Stanford, breaking the school record by 45 seconds.

At season’s end, Lawrence, Smit, Watcke and Treacy earned CSC Academic All-District honors. Both teams received USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, with Lawrence, Watcke and Treacy also earning individual honors. The men’s team recorded a 3.44 GPA in the spring, while the women posted a 3.67.

Jason Clayton capped the year by breaking the outdoor 3K school record with a 7:53.12 at the Cork City Sports meet in Ireland. Loyola athletes set eight school records and earned eight Atlantic 10 Track Performer of the Week honors during the year.

Gaudreault joined the Ramblers from Georgia, where she spent one season as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams. The women finished third at the NCAA Indoor Championships and 10th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, while the men placed ninth outdoors. In cross country, the men finished 13th at the NCAA South Regional, and the women placed 17th.

Individually, Gaudreault coached Charlotte Augenstein to a personal-best 4:17.48 in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA East Preliminary. Augenstein also placed seventh in the mile at the SEC Indoor Championships with a personal-best 4:42.75, the seventh-fastest time in school history. Wesley John posted a personal-best 8:53.52 in the steeplechase, qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary and ranking third all time at Georgia. Chase Condra led the Bulldogs in cross country, finishing in 24:24.1 for 8K at the SEC Championships and placing 30th at the NCAA South Regional in 29:49.4.

Before Georgia, Gaudreault served as a volunteer distance coach at Vanderbilt. She helped Niki Narayani (10,000) and Caroline Eck (5,000) qualify for the NCAA East Prelims and coached Narayani to scoring finishes at the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. Narayani also earned all-region honors in cross country.

Gaudreault previously coached at Towson from 2020-22, including a stint as interim head coach. Crystal Johnson was named ECAC Championships Most Outstanding Performer, and the Tigers produced three conference champions. Cristal Cuervo also represented Panama at the 2022 Bolivarian Games, finishing sixth in the 400 meters.

Towson placed third at the CAA Outdoor Championships after finishing runner-up in 2021. Hayley Horvath earned CAA co-field athlete of the year honors. Several athletes won conference titles, and multiple school records were set. The Tigers finished fourth at the ECAC Indoor Championships, while Ainsley Jacobs set a school record in the 3,000 and earned all-CAA honors in cross country.

Gaudreault also spent time at Louisiana-Monroe in 2019 and Campbell from 2018-19. At Campbell, she coached multiple NCAA All-Americans and helped the men win the 2018 Big South cross country title.

A native of Leominster, Massachusetts, Gaudreault was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American in the 800 meters at Springfield College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science in 2014. She later earned a master’s degree from Clemson in 2016 while serving as a graduate assistant coach.
