Loyola Chicago Stumbles in A-10 Tournament Quarterfinals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- In the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals, No. 1 overall seed Loyola Chicago fell 13-5 after five innings to No. 4 Fordham on Thursday, May 7. Redshirt sophomore and All-Conference Second Team selection Liz Sedakis racked up three base hits in the game and sophomore shortstop Alli Pawlowicz led the Ramblers at the plate, going 1-for-1 with a triple and two RBI.

A-10 Rookie of the Year Anna Kiel (10-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Loyola, recording the only two strikeouts from the pitching staff.

How It Happened
The Ramblers were trailing 5-0 in the first inning after a one-out grand slam off the bat of Rams senior infielder Kate McGuire. Loyola scored twice in the bottom of the first thanks to two RBI-singles from Sedakis and All-Conference First Teamer junior infielder Nat Lesnicki. Fordham expanded their lead to 8-2 early in the third frame; Loyola cut into the deficit as Sedakis came across to score the lone run of the inning.

The Rams pulled even further away, 13-3, before the Ramblers' offense got back to work, adding their final two runs in the fifth and final frame. Pawlowicz hit an RBI triple to plate Sedakis then later scored on a wild pitch, but Loyola couldn't get any closer and Fordham came away with the win.
