Loyola Chicago (1-1) women's soccer takes a quick road trip down south to face its Red Line rivals DePaul (2-1) in Lincoln Park on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. CT.
QUICK KICKS
- The Ramblers secured their first victory of the season – and first road win – in a 1-0 shutout against the Central Michigan Chippewas on Sunday, Aug. 17.
- Rookie Abby Sudkamp netted the game-winning goal in the 79th minute with a header from a corner kick assist by sophomore Lydia Case. It marked Sudkamp's first career goal and points and Case's first-ever assist.
- In between the posts, Allison Deardorff stayed sharp, collecting four saves against the Chippewas' offense.
- Loyola was picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll.
- The Ramblers welcomed 10 newcomers to their 2025 roster, including five true freshmen and five transfers while 18 Ramblers returned.
- At the helm of the program is head coach Jon Sandoval in his first season at Loyola.
SCOUTING REPORT
DePaul is coming off a historic 2-0 against Purdue (Aug. 21) on the road; the victory marked the Blue Demons first win ever over the Boilermakers. Forward Tessa Fagerson netted the game-winner while midfielder Danielle Fjeldsted extended the lead. Goalkeeper Mason Hillery made three stops against Purdue to secure her first shutout of the season.
In its season opener, DePaul stunned Chicago State 6-2 (Aug. 14) at home before falling, 1-0, to Northern Illinois on the road (Aug. 17). The Blue Demons were projected to finish seventh in the 11-team deep Big East women's soccer preseason poll.
SERIES HISTORY
Loyola holds the all-time series advantage, 13-9-2, with DePaul and has won the last four meetings, three of which were shutouts. The Red Line rivalry first began in September 1996 when the Ramblers defeated the Blue Demons by a score of 3-2 in Lincoln Park.
