WASHINGTON – Loyola Chicago's
Cael Mulholland and
Aiden Grasse were named to the Atlantic 10's All-Rookie and All-Academic Teams, respectively, for the outdoor track and field season, the league's office announced Thursday.
Mulholland had a fantastic inaugural outdoor season with the Ramblers, beginning with a personal best in the 10K at the Raleigh Relays. He finished 15th in his heat with a time of 29:01.33, the fifth-fastest mark in Loyola Chicago history. Later, at the Bryan Clay Invitational, the Adelaide, Australia, native logged a top-20 finish in the 5K. At the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Mulholland placed seventh in the 10K finals in 30:59.49.
Grasse, who carries a 3.98 GPA as a cognitive and behavioral neuroscience major, kicked off her senior outdoor season at Loyola with a top-25 finish in the 3K steeplechase at the WashU Distance Carnival. She followed that up with a fifth-place finish in the same event at the Mt. SAC Relays. At the Elmhurst Twilight Invitational, the Holt, Mich., native clocked a 4:49.86 in the 1,500m to take seventh. At the conference championships, Grasse notched a PR of 10:41.65 to earn the bronze medal in the steeplechase — the third-fastest time in Loyola Chicago history.
