RALEIGH, N.C. – Emma Watcke and Roisin Treacy shattered long-standing program records in the 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase, respectively, Friday at the Raleigh Relays. Additionally, multiple other Ramblers garnered strong performances across two meets.
Watcke, who also holds Loyola Chicago's indoor mile and 3K records, clocked a personal-best 4:17.03 to place third in her heat. Alessandra Rodriguez wasn't far behind, finishing in 4:26.09—good for fifth all-time at Loyola—and taking fourth in her heat. Kate Wojcikiewicz crossed the line in 5:04.66, placing 13th in her heat.
In the 3,000m steeplechase, Treacy set Loyola's program record with a PR time of 10:22.28, finishing eighth in her heat.
In the St. Louis at the WashU Distance Carnival, Madison Perez clocked 19:09.00 in her collegiate outdoor 5K debut, while Kyle Knutson posted a time of 15:57.00 on the men's side.
In the 1,500m, Alex Morris finished sixth in her heat with a time of 4:42.00. Grace Kuhn took fourth in her heat with a personal-best time of 4:31.75.
On the men's side, Izak Bibile won his heat behind a time of 3:51.02 while Miles Clisham was sixth in his heat at 3:50.43.
Competition continues Saturday at the Raleigh Relays with the men's and women's 800m. At the WashU Distance Carnival, the Ramblers will compete in the men's and women's 1,500m and 800m to close out the weekend.
