BOSTON – Emma Watcke of the Loyola University Chicago women's track team set her second indoor program record at Loyola Chicago Saturday, posting a blazing time of 9:14.85 in the 3K at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Watcke beat her previous best, set at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 7, 2024, by 11.38 seconds. Her teammate, Grace Kuhn, previously held the record with a time of 9:20.91 at the same 2024 event.
Also running the 3K, Roisin Treacy posted a time of 9:28.60 while Grace Jostock used her time of 9:47.35 to land a new personal best time. Eileen Seebon (9:47.44) and Aiden Grasse (9:55.21) also wrote themselves new PRs.
In the mile, Alessandra Rodriguez nearly etched a personal record with her time of 4:47.56. Ali Gillooly, running the 5K, finished in 17:11.50. Â
Back in Illinois at the Chicagoland Indoor Championship, Fionn Harrington paced a trio of Ramblers in the mile with his time of 4:27.93. His time placed him ninth overall. On his coattails was Aidan Collins who clocked a 4:27.97 to finish in 10th. Gabe Ryan rounded out the trio with his time of 4:32.46, taking 15th.
In the men's DMR, Kyle Knutson, Jack Slaughter, Trent Anderson, and Woody Jerome placed first overall with their time of 10:31.32. Loyola beat the second-place finishers (Aurora) by 25.30 seconds.
The Ramblers are next in action Friday, Feb. 28, at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.
