CHICAGO – With 14 seconds left on the clock, Ramblers middie
Taylor Harrison tapped in the game-winner at the 89th minute to secure a 2-1 victory over Toledo. The goal marks Harrison's second of the season.
"Our buildup is great. We're working together as a team, we're creating chances and it's good to be on the end of them, even if it's wide or missing shots. We never gave up, we never stopped believing," said Harrison.
The Ramblers are now 4-1-1 and remain undefeated at home.
How It Happened
The Rockets scored early off a goal by Morgan Spitler in the 16th minute to put Toledo on the board first. Loyola responded with two shots, one from senior
Jaimee Cibulka then sophomore
Maggie Schmidt tried to put another away one minute later.
After a Toledo handball in the penalty box,
Emily Rossi teed up for a penalty kick and equalized the game in the 29th minute. To close out the half, redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Allison Deardorff made her second save of the night while Cibulka and Schmidt each added another shot.
Loyola maintained this goal hungry momentum in the second half with the Ramblers getting five shots off in the first 14 minutes – two alone from Harrison.
In the final minute of the match, defender
Olivia Rhodes threw the ball into play and was picked up by Rossi then unsuccessfully headed out by Toledo's defense, right to Cibulka who saw Harrison in the right place at the right time.
