LEADING OFF
Loyola Chicago hosts Toledo on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. in the first match of a doubleheader with the Ramblers men's soccer team. It is the women's soccer squad's penultimate non-conference game at home.
QUICK KICKS
- Senior middie Taylor Harrison scored her first goal of the season and the game-winner against Toledo off an assist from sophomore forward Zoe Hevey on Sept. 1.
- Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Allison Deardorff marked a career high with five saves and her third shutout of the season against Bowling Green.
- Freshman forward Jocelyn Leigh recorded a career high of three shots against Bowling Green while Kenedi Jones and Olivia Anderson each had a pair of shots to make their season highs and mark a career high for Anderson.
- Five Ramblers played the full 90 minutes on the pitch: Deardorff, Alaina Abel, Jaimee Cibulka, Roos van Roekel and Olivia Rhodes. It was the fifth consecutive full-90 games for both Deardorff and Abel.
SCOUTING TOLEDO
The Rockets are 1-2-1 so far this season, collecting their first win over Detroit Mercy (1-0) on Aug. 30. In its season opener, Toledo tied IU Indy, 1-1, before falling to Cincinnati (3-2) and Northwestern (1-0). Last season the Rockets went 7-9-2 overall and 4-6-1 in MAC play.
ROCKETS TO WATCH
- New to Toledo's squad this season, graduate student Dalaney Ranallo leads the team's field players in minutes with 339 and already has three shots on goal, despite her defender status. Prior to transferring to Toledo, Ranallo played four seasons at Kent State where she capped her career campaign there with 5,655 minutes, four goals and nine assists.
- Junior goalkeeper Agnes Stenlund is also a new addition to the Rockets' 2024 squad, previously at Niagara for two seasons where she held a 9-9-3 record with seven shutouts and made 104 saves and allowed 18 goals. This season 6'1" Stenlund has recorded one shutout and 12 saves with a goals against average of 1.25.
- Offensively, junior forward Kaema Amachree and freshman Cameron Cole are the team's top shooters, with five and seven shots, respectively. Both have played in all four games so far this season with Amachree starting in all four and a goal under her belt while Cole has three starts. Last year, the veteran ended her sophomore season with five goals, two assists and 21 shots (nine SOG).
- Another two Rockets to watch are freshman middie Gabrielle Anulare and senior forward Chloe Tadolini. Anulare leads the team with two goals, scoring her first collegiate brace against Cincinnati, both assisted by Tadolini who is the team leader in assists (2).
SERIES HISTORY
The Ramblers hold the series advantage, 3-2, over the Rockets with the most recent match ending in a 2-1 victory for Loyola on Toledo turf last season. Prior to 2023, the programs have not met since 2012.
