- Freshman forward Jocelyn Leigh scored the program's first point ever against Purdue to force the first-ever draw, 1-1, in the series between the Ramblers and Boilermakers on Thursday, Aug. 22 in West Lafayette, Ind. The statement goal was assisted by sophomore forward Julia Liguore and senior middie Jaimee Cibulka.
- Against Purdue, redshirt freshman goalie Allison Deardorff recorded 90 minutes and four saves for a season and career high. She was named this week's Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week in the league's first batch of weekly honors.
- The Ramblers outshot the Boilermakers 8-6, with seven 'Blers taking at least one shot: Emily Rossi (1), Ansley Cryan (1), Roos van Roekl (1), Metaj (1), Leigh (2), Olivia Anderson (1) and Kenedi Jones (1).
- Defenders Alaina Abel and Ava Metaj, and midfielder Olivia Rhodes played all 90 minutes on the pitch vs. Purdue.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul is 0-1-1 so far this season after a draw against Northern Illinois in their home and season opener, followed by a 1-2 loss to Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Ill. In 2023, the Blue Demons went 6-7-4 overall and recorded three shutouts.
BLUE DEMONS TO WATCH
- Last season goalkeeper Elena Milam led the Big East with 90 saves and averaged a conference-high 5.29 saves per game. The three-time Big East All-Academic Team awardee posted 11 saves against Loyola last year and played every single minute of the season (1,530 minutes).
- Sophomore forward Mya Gardner is responsible for DePaul's sole goal so far this season against Illinois on Aug. 18. She's the current team leader in points (2) and ended last year with one goal and 15 shots, five on target.
- Senior midfielder Jen Devona is second on the team in shots (2) and the leader in shots on goal (2) while sophomore middie Lea Eisenring leads DePaul in shots (3) and is second in minutes (162).
- Defenders Schuyler Riese and Kristen Schwartz, another senior-sophomore tandem, are integral to DePaul's back line. Riese logged 1,023 minutes, including nine 90-minute matches, and Schwartz tallied 1,379 minutes, more than any DePaul field player in 2023. The sophomore from Plainfield, Ill. started in all 17 games and played 10 90-minute matches.
SERIES HISTORY
The Ramblers lead the all-time series 12-9-1, with the last three matches ending in Loyola's favor. Last season, Loyola shut out DePaul 1-0 on Blue Demon turf.
