Women’s Soccer Finds First Road Win at Richmond

First road win, second conference victory, third goal for Cibulka and eighth shutout for Deardorff.

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior midfielder Jaimee Cibulka netted a set piece goal to secure a 1-0 victory over Richmond for Loyola Chicago's second conference win on Sunday, Oct. 6.

"It's tough to get points on the road, so I'm really proud of our team for having a professional approach to this game. Richmond has not allowed many goals on their home turf so I'm happy with the chances we created and that we were able to put one away," said head coach Angela Staveskie.

The Ramblers are now 7-2-5 overall and 2-0-4 in league play.

 How It Happened
Loyola came out hot on the attack, taking eight shots in the first half compared to one from the Spiders.

After two early shot attempts from Cibulka, she set up a free kick outside the box and found the bottom left of the net in the 23rd minute, slipping past the mitts of Richmond goalkeeper McKenna Dalfonso. Cibulka added a career high seven shots against the Spiders.

Leading at the half, the Ramblers played solid defense to maintain the shutout, Allison Deardorff's eighth career shutout. Loyola's defensive unit held Richmond to just four total shots.

"From a defensive standpoint, our team has improved significantly front to back with our defensive pressure and organization," said Staveskie.
