Ramblers Stun Bonnies 4-0 to Clinch Spot in A-10 Tournament

Two seniors score and Deardorff/Guthrie shuts out to secure victory.

CHICAGO – On a sunny afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park, Loyola University Chicago defeated St. Bonaventure, 4-0, to finish sixth overall in the Atlantic 10 and secure its second-ever appearance in the conference tournament. Four different Ramblers had a score today: Jaimee Cibulka, Zoe Hevey, Taylor Harrison and Julia Liguore

"Today was a special day for us, honoring our seniors and celebrating this special group, but we knew that we also had to take care of business. I'm really proud of our group for having a lot of good moments of playing Loyola soccer," said head coach Angela Staveskie. "We've got our six seniors and our two graduate students that put in so much to this program for four and five years, and to have this result and this opportunity to play our last regular season game at home is really special."

The Ramblers finish their regular season 9-4-5 overall, 4-2-4 in A-10 play and 8-1-1 at home.

How It Happened
The offensive attack was evenly matched on both ends of the field, seeing eight shots from the Ramblers and seven from the Bonnies in just the first half. Jadyn Harris kickstarted the scoring attempts for the Maroon and Gold, followed by senior Cibulka and graduate student Olivia Rhodes.

St. Bonaventure had a series of six strikes, including a dangerous, far-out attempt snatched by Loyola keeper Allison Deardorff to keep the match scoreless. After two more Rambler shot attempts, one from Emily Rossi and another from Alaina Abel, the Bonnies put a goal kick into play and Harris gained possession for the Ramblers.

She looked for Cibulka inside the box who then found the back right corner of the net to open scoring and claim her fourth goal of the season. Deardorff capped the first half with two saves while Bonnies' keeper Chiara Gottinger had one; two more shots from each side closed out of the first half.

The Ramblers absolutely exploded in the second half, tallying 23 shots and holding the Bonnies to only one. Sophomore forward Hevey extended Loyola's lead, 2-0, in the 53rd minute and satisfied her quest for her second goal this season.

Nearly five minutes later, Harrison put away the Ramblers' third goal, and her fourth this season, off an assist from Hevey. Loyola didn't stop there – sophomore forward Julia Liguore netted her first career goal in the 82nd minute, put into play by senior Emma Irle who connected with Ansley Cryan, to polish off the final score at 4-0.
