Ramblers, Blue Demons Set for Crosstown Clash

CHICAGO - The Loyola Chicago's non-conference season ends at DePaul this weekend. The Ramblers and Blue Demons will kickoff at 1 p.m. at Wish Field. DePaul hasn't lost a game since Aug. 17. They're 3-0-1 over their last four matches, including two straight wins against Eastern Kentucky and UIC at home. Loyola is 2-1-0 in its last three games played at home. The Ramblers recorded back-to-back wins vs. Western Illinois and Ball State before dropping a close battle to Wisconsin, 3-2. Loyola looks to even its record ahead of opening Atlantic 10 action next week.

QUICK KICKS
• This week's action opened with a 3-2 loss to the visiting Wisconsin Badgers. Amanda Cassidy scored for the second time this season in the 43rd minute to knot the game 1-1. In the second half, Madeleine Barone took a penalty kick for the Ramblers after a handball in the box. It marks her first goal of the year, but Loyola came up just a little short falling to the Badgers.
• For the first time this season, Loyola earned back-to-back wins after beating Western Illinois and Ball State on its home turf last week. The Ramblers handed the Leathernecks a 1-0 shutout, while they rallied for a 2-1 win vs. the Cardinals to cap the week.
Zoe Hevey fired off seven of Loyola's 25 shots against the Leathernecks. She eventually broke through the defense to net the game winner on a solo attack. She added two assists vs. Ball State, including the a helper on the game winner. Hevey was awarded the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week following her two-match performance.
• The Ramblers capped the week with a 2-1 win against Ball State. It was their first win vs. the Cardinals in program history. Olivia Rhodes scored first in Sunday's match, while Taylor Harrison put her third goal of the season away for the game-winner in the second half.
• Loyola held the Leathernecks without a shot attempt last Thursday, leading the match 25-0. The team's combined 25 shots sits fifth on the A10 single game-highs list. Hevey's seven shots that match marks a career-high for the freshman forward and is fifth on the individual game-high charts.
• After the first six matches of the season, Harrison leads the Ramblers with three goals. She is tied with Hevey as the Rambler leader with six points. Harrison's three goals is tied third in the A10.
Jaimee Cibulka also assisted on Sunday's game winner, making the initial pass to Hevey in the left corner. Cibulka has a team-leading three helpers this year, and she is tied third in the A10 in the category so far this season.
Barry Bimbi enters his 13th season as head coach of the Ramblers. Bimbi notched his 100th career win last year and sits at 109-94-29 overall ahead of the 2023 season. The women's soccer program is closing in on its 250th win since its inception in 1992 with an overall record of 249-318-45.

SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul is 3-1-1 heading into this weekend's clash and riding a four-match unbeaten streak. The Blue Demons are 3-0-1 in their last four matches, including two straight wins against Eastern Kentucky and UIC. The lone loss on the year for DePaul was in the season opener at No. 7 Alabama where the Crimson Tide shutout the Blue Demons, 2-0.

BLUE DEMONS TO WATCH
• Ellie Mink leads the DePaul offense with three goals this season for six points. She scored in three straight matches against Samford, Green Bay, and Eastern Kentucky. Mink has started all five matches at midfield.
• Beth Smyth tallied goals in the last two wins for the Blue Demons. Both were the game winners vs. Eastern Kentucky and UIC.
• Elena Milam has logged every minute in goal for DePaul. She's allowed only five goals and made 24 saves. Milam had a shutout against UIC and made a season-high six stops vs. Alabama and Samford.

SERIES HISTORY
Loyola Chicago leads the all-time series 11-9-1 against DePaul. The Ramblers downed the Blue Demons last season, 2-1. Sarah Noonan put away both goals in the win.
