Loyola Closes Regular Season at Home vs. VCU

CHICAGO - The regular season comes to an end Sunday afternoon. Loyola Chicago will honor its seniors ahead of a 12:30 p.m. kickoff with visiting VCU. Both the Ramblers and Rams are on the brink of a postseason berth with just one point separating them in the standings. VCU sits eighth with 13 points, while Loyola is in ninth with 12 points. A win would clinch a spot in the Atlantic 10 tournament for either team.

QUICK KICKS
• The Ramblers snapped a seven-match win streak for the second place La Salle Explorers earlier this week with a 0-0 draw on the road. It also marked the eighth shutout for Loyola and Naya Lipkens this season. The fifth-year senior made two saves in goal.
• Lipkens is first in the A10 with eight shutouts and cracked into the NCAA top-20 at 19th in the country. With the Ramblers, she has 14 shutouts. Spanning her five-year career with SJU and Loyola, Lipkens has 30 shutouts.
•Harrison's seven goals is a season-high for the junior forward. She currently leads the Ramblers and ranks third in the A10 behind two Saint Louis players who have nine and eight goals, respectively.
• Hevey leads the Ramblers and is third in the conference with six assists. It also ranks inside the NCAA top-50 at 48th in the country. Four of her six assists have all been on Harrison goals, including two game-winners.
Maggie Schmidt scored her first career goal and game-winner at Davidson on Oct. 8  propelling Loyola to its second A10 win of the season. Schmidt's goal came with just under two minutes left in the match and earned her Rookie of the Week honors. She is the third different Rambler Rookie to earn the award this season.
• The Rambler freshmen have stepped up big for Loyola this season with five different rookies tallying a point so far. Hevey leads the pack with 12 points on three goals and six assists. Schmidt, Ansley Cryan and Skyler Bierker have a goal each, while Jadyn Harris has an assist.
• Loyola has outshot its opponent nine times this season, including a season-high 25 shots vs. Western Illinois. The Ramblers also surpassed the 20-shot mark with 24 at DePaul. Loyola is third in the A10 with 112 total shots on goal. In league-only play, they average 7.5 sog for third in the conference
• This year's A10 tournament is scheduled to get started with quarterfinals next week. Matches will be played at the top-four seeds on Oct. 27 and 28.
Barry Bimbi is in his 13th season as head coach of the Ramblers. Bimbi notched his 100th career win last year and sits at 113-97-32 overall.

SCOUTING VCU
The Rams enter the final regular season match in eighth place in the A10 standings. They sit at 5-8-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play. A win against the Ramblers would clinch a postseason berth. VCU is on a two-match win streak after shutting out St. Bonaventure (1-0) and downing Fordham (3-1). The Rams also have league wins against Richmond and George Mason this season.

RAMS TO WATCH
• Hannah Bagley leads the Rams with 14 points, which ties sixth in the A10. Eight of those points are on assists, including two she tallied against Fordham earlier this week. Bagley adds three goals for VCU. The two helpers Thursday was the first time Badley registered points in a match since the team's 5-0 win at George Mason on sept. 17.
• Milica Bulatovic has a team-leading four goals this season. She adds an assist for nine points. Bulatovic scored one of the three goals at Fordham last week. She also has a goal against George Mason in league play. Back on Aug. 20, Bulatovic netted a pair and tallied an assist for a five-point outing at UNCW.
• Three keepers have made appearances in goal for the Rams, but Allison Karpovich has made 14 of the 16 starts. She has allowed ust 13 goals this season and has 37 saves. Karpovich made a season-high six saves in a 0-0 draw with Maryland.

SERIES HISTORY
The Rams won the first meeting in the all-time series last year, 1-0. Loyola will look to even it Sunday.
