Ramblers Falter at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio – A pair of first-half goals for the Flyers led Dayton past Loyola Chicago Sunday afternoon, 2-0. Dayton's game-winner came in the 14th minute.

With the loss, Loyola falls to 7-7-2 overall, 3-3-2 in the Atlantic 10.

"I am so proud of our focus and effort today," said head coach Barry Bimbi. "We rarely allowed a very good Dayton team to find their rhythm offensively. We were a bit unlucky with the two goals we conceded, but I felt like we created enough quality opportunities to get a result in the game. We need to continue our quality play this coming week and the results will come."

How It Happened
The Flyers put the Rambler defense to work early Sunday, leading to two saves in the first 10 minutes for Naya Lipkens.

The pressure continued with a shot off the crossbar from Marlee Taylor inside the 14th minute. The shot's rebound was tracked down by Laney Huber who knocked it over the goal line for an early 1-0 edge.

Taylor would get her chance six minutes later doubling the Dayton lead in the 21st minute unassisted.

Zoe Hevey and Ansley Cryan had close attempts for the Ramblers before the half ended, and they put another five on target in the second half. Madeleine Barone nearly scored on a free kick in the 82nd minute, but the Flyers were able to hold Loyola off and win, 2-0.
