Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Davidson Stymies Loyola, 1-0

Ramblers outshoot Wildcats in defeat, 9-1

CHICAGO (September 29, 2022)

In Short…
On a night where scoring chances came at a premium, Davidson's Alli Jacobson made the most of her opportunity, scoring in the 44th minute to propel the visiting Wildcats (10-2-1, 3-2 A-10) past the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team, 1-0, this evening at the Loyola Soccer Park.  Tonight's setback sees the Ramblers fall to 6-4-2 and 2-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Head Coach Barry Bimbi's Thoughts…
"All the credit tonight goes to Davidson.  They capitalized on their one opportunity late in the first half and stayed completely organized defensively throughout the game.  We lacked quality and didn't have any bite in the final third tonight."

How It Happened
In what proved to be a precursor for the evening, both sides struggled to unlock the other in the final third on a cool evening in Rogers Park.  Olivia Knab registered the first shot of the night in the sixth minute, firing wide of goal from outside the 18-yard box.

Loyola had arguably its top scoring chance fall to the feet of Ava Metaj in the 23rd minute.  Following a Rambler corner kick, Metaj found herself with space at the top of the box and unleashed a looping blast that forced Davidson goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch to tip her attempt over the crossbar.

Jacobson provided the night's deciding strike just 20 minutes after Metaj's effort, depositing a through ball into the back of the net to give Davidson a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Megan Nemec looked to spark the Maroon & Gold's attack coming out of the intermission, notching a pair of shots in the 49th minute.  Olivia Rhodes and Taylor Harrison both saw their attempts go array as the half wore on, with Harrison's try in the 72nd minute proving to be Loyola's final shot of the evening as Davidson closed out a road victory.

Looking At The Numbers
- Loyola finished with a 9-1 edge in shots, but was limited to just one attempt on target.
- The Ramblers also racked up an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
- Jacobson's goal stood as Davidson's lone shot.
