CHICAGO (September 28, 2021) – Coming off back-to-back victories at home, the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team (6-2-1, 2-0-0 MVC) opens up a two-game road trip on Wednesday, September 29 when it faces off against Evansville in a 4 p.m. kickoff at Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville, Ind.
The midweek tilt with the Purple Aces opens a daunting stretch that sees the Maroon & Gold play four of their final six games away from the friendly confines of Loyola Soccer Park.
Last Time Out: Megan Nemec,
Olivia Knab, and
Taylor Harrison each found the back of the net as Loyola cruised to a 3-0 win over Northern Iowa last Saturday in Rogers Park. The Ramblers turned in another dominant showing at both ends of the field, outshooting the Panthers by a 17-3 margin while not allowing the visitors a shot on target. For her efforts in the victory, Harrison was named the MVC Freshman of the Week on Monday.
vs. Evansville: Voted eighth in The Valley's Preseason Poll, Evansville has been one of the league's surprises, starting 5-1-4, a mark that includes a 1-0-1 ledger in MVC action.
The Purple Aces continued their unbeaten start to conference play this past Saturday, battling Drake to a 1-1 draw in double-overtime at Arad McCutchan Stadium. After falling behind just under 20 minutes into the second half, Emily Wolak found the back of the net in the 81st minute to salvage a point for Evansville.
Emily Ormson leads the charge in the offensive third for head coach Chris Pfau, having scored a team-high four goals this season. Preseason All-Valley selection Emilie Hill ranks second on the team in overall points with two goals and an assist to her name, while Monique Landrum and Abby Phelps have also each found the back of the net twice. Michaela Till, a Second Team All-MVC pick from last season, sports a sparkling 0.80 goals against average across eight appearances, all of which have come in a starting role.
Series Stuff: Loyola owns a 7-2-4 (.692) advantage in 13 previous matchups with Evansville. All but three of those meetings have come since the Maroon & Gold's move to The Valley prior to the 2013 season.
The Ramblers saw their 11-game unbeaten run against the Purple Aces come to an end this past spring, dropping a 1-0 setback at Loyola Soccer Park on April 3, 2021. Emilie Hill netted the deciding goal in the 27th minute. The result snapped a steak of 21 games without a defeat for Loyola against Valley competition.
Up Next: Loyola wraps up its road swing against Drake on Sunday, October 3 in Des Moines, Iowa.
