Loyola Entertains Missouri State Saturday On Senior Day

Ramblers to honor senior class in pregame ceremony

CHICAGO (October 7, 2021) – The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team (8-2-1, 4-0-0 MVC) will look to extend its win streak to five games on Saturday afternoon when it welcomes Missouri State to Loyola Soccer Park on Senior Day.  A special pregame ceremony honoring the Ramblers' senior class will precede the 1 p.m. kickoff.

Last Time Out: Loyola jumped all over Drake from the opening whistle, cruising to a 4-1 win last Sunday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.  Abby Swanson and Megan Nemec tallied goals during the first half, while Amanda Cassidy and Taylor Harrison added strikes in the second stanza as the Ramblers finished with a 30-6 advantage in shots.  For her efforts last week, which included a goal and an assist, Nemec was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

vs. Missouri State: Missouri State has dropped three consecutive one-goal decisions to fall to 4-5-3 (.458), a mark that includes a 1-2-0 ledger in Valley play.

The Bears are coming off a 2-1 setback to Valparaiso this past Saturday at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield, Mo. Anna Durnin netted Missouri State's lone goal in the contest, scoring in the 44th minute.

Piloted by head coach Rob Brewer, who is in the midst of his 26th and final season at the helm in Springfield, Mo., Missouri State, like Loyola, features a balanced attack that has seen nine different Bears find the back of the net this season.  That group is paced by Durnin, Grace O'Keefe, and Kennady Orlick, who each have two goals to their name.  O'Keefe has also dished out a Valley-best seven assists, ranking 12th nationally in the category.  In goal, Katharine Montgomery has started in 10 of the team's 12 games this season, sporting a 0.94 goals against average and four shutouts.

Series Stuff: Unbeaten (5-0-1) in its last six meetings with Missouri State, Loyola holds a 6-3-1 (.650) edge in its all-time series with the Bears.

The Ramblers are 4-1-0 (.800) against Missouri State in five previous meetings at Loyola Soccer Park, with the lone blemish coming back on October 5, 2013 when the Bears picked up a 2-1 overtime victory in the first meeting between the two teams as MVC rivals.

When the two teams met to begin the 2021 spring season on February 28, Loyola outshot Missouri State by a 19-0 margin, but was unable to find the back of the net as it settled for 0-0 double-overtime draw at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield, Mo.

Up Next: Loyola ventures back out on the road next week, opening a two-game road trip against Illinois State on Wednesday, October 13 in Normal, Ill.
